Bolognese people take their food very seriously, giving rise to the city's nickname, 'Bologna the fat'. Local dishes are particularly tasty and are prepared with great care utilising local produce. Pizzas are not part of traditional Bologna cuisine, but the best in the city can be found at Al Tavolaccio, Il Doge and Piedigrotta.
